Advanced materials for superior performance.
HeetShield proudly offers the following two thermal insulations that have been thoroughly developed and tested and have proven to be superior:

  • Opacified Fibrous Insulation (OFI)
  • At temperatures over 1,000°F (538°C), most of the heat generated is transferred by infrared radiation. With OFI, this heat transfer is blocked by special particles in the insulation. These particles reflect and scatter the IR wavelengths.
  • In some applications, OFI is twice as efficient as its un-opacified challengers. OFI can be used in continuous applications in temperatures of up to 3,000°F (1,649°C).
  • OFI was developed under Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) awards from NASA and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
  • Flexible Insulation with Reinforced Aerogel (FIRA)
  • Aerogel is known to be very lightweight and have very low thermal conductivity. In its pure state, aerogel is rigid and brittle, making it difficult to form. Other companies form aerogel blankets by embedding the aerogel within a pre-made fibrous mat. We form the mat around the pre-made aerogel. This produces a very thin, very flexible, and very consistent aerogel blanket.
  • This blanket can operate from -40°F to 1,200°F (-40°C to 649°C). FIRA significantly reduces weight and bulk compared to other flexible aerogel blankets.
  • FIRA was developed under Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) awards from NASA.
